The man who came back for the dragon

He was fifteen when he watched Vhar-Kaz burn. The first tremor was so faint no one paid it any mind. The second changed everything. Valekor was in the street of the artisans' quarter when the ground split open and the sky filled with fire. When the dragon appeared over the city, he did not run. He searched for his sister.

Thirty years later he is one of the Named. Hardened, trained, with a single purpose he has not abandoned for a single day since that night. His mother tells him he still lives on that street. He doesn't deny it.

“I will find you. And I will kill you.”

The Ash Clan

The Ash Clan is the least loved in Vhar-Kaz. The other clans consider them an ill omen. The Ash know things they do not share. The tension is constant. Valekor grew up in that world — he learned early that distrust is not a flaw, it is a tool.

The axe he carries was forged by Master Durak. What Durak knew about that axe before he finished it is one of the unanswered questions of Book I. The answer exists. It is in the pages.

The one who carries on

Valekor is one of the four characters who continue into Book III. What happens between Book I and that point has changed him in ways no one who knew him at the start would fully recognize. But something remains the same. Something always remains.

Relationships

His deepest bond is with Ignar, the dragon he has hunted since he was fifteen — the relationship that defines his entire story. His axe bears the mark of Master Durak, who knew more than he said when he forged it. In the group that crosses into Book III, he travels alongside Borik and Aldric, companions earned on the road after the fall of Vhar-Kaz.
